Two calculators in one
Days between dates gives the gap between two dates in days, in years-months-days, in weeks, in business days and in weekend days. Add or subtract finds the date that lies a number of years, months, weeks and days before or after a start date – optionally counting only working days.
Counting days between two dates
- Choose a start date and an end date.
- Tick Include the end date if both the first and last day should count, for example for a training camp or a hotel stay seen as days rather than nights.
- Read the results; they update as you type.
Adding or subtracting time
- Choose a start date and whether to add or subtract.
- Enter years, months, weeks and days.
- Tick the business-day option to skip Saturdays and Sundays when counting weeks and days.
When you add months, the day is kept where possible; if the target month is shorter, the last day of that month is used (January 31 + 1 month = February 28 or 29). Public holidays are not taken into account.
Frequently asked questions
How many days are between two dates?
Enter both dates in the first tab. By default the start date is counted and the end date is not; tick "Include the end date" to count both.
What counts as a business day?
Monday to Friday. Weekends are excluded; public holidays differ by country and are not removed.
Can I calculate a date in the past?
Yes. Choose Subtract, or simply put the later date first in the days-between tab – the result is shown as a negative number.
