Three ways to calculate time
- Time between – the hours and minutes from a start time to an end time, minus a break. Night shifts that cross midnight are handled automatically.
- Add / subtract – find the clock time a given number of hours, minutes and seconds after or before another time, including the day change.
- Add up durations – total a list of times, such as training sessions in a week or the segments of a race.
Decimal hours for timesheets
Payroll and invoicing often need decimal hours: 7 hours 45 minutes is 7.75 hours. Every result is shown both as hours and minutes and as a decimal value, so you can copy it straight into a timesheet.
To count whole days instead of hours, use the date calculator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a night shift?
Enter the start time (for example 22:00) and the end time (06:00). Because the end is earlier than the start, it is treated as the next day and the result is 8 hours before breaks.
How do I convert minutes to decimal hours?
Divide the minutes by 60. 15 minutes = 0.25 h, 30 minutes = 0.5 h, 45 minutes = 0.75 h. The calculator does this for you.
