A stopwatch made for timing

Use this online stopwatch to time a run on the track, a swim set, a speech, or how long a task really takes. Lap times are listed with the split and the running total, and once you have three or more laps the fastest is highlighted in green and the slowest in red.

The stopwatch stores its state in your browser. If you close or reload the tab by accident, it picks up exactly where it was – still running.

How to use the stopwatch

  1. Press Start (or the Space bar) to begin.
  2. Press Lap (or L) at each split. The current lap time is shown under the main display.
  3. Press Pause to stop the clock, then Resume to continue or Reset to clear everything.
  4. Use Export CSV to open your laps in Excel, Google Sheets or your training log.

Ideas for using lap times

  • Track repeats: compare each 400 m to see whether your pacing holds.
  • Swimming: record every length and spot when technique starts to fade.
  • Presentations: lap each section to see where the time goes.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the online stopwatch?

It reads the system clock rather than counting ticks, so the result is accurate to a few milliseconds. The display shows hundredths of a second.

Does it keep running if I close the tab?

The time is measured from the moment you pressed Start, so when you come back the elapsed time is still correct.

Can I use it with a keyboard?

Yes: Space starts or pauses, L or Enter records a lap, and R resets when the stopwatch is paused.
